Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found many other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they added.
City officials announced they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for information.
An important official stated the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
